Nomfundo Flank (23) Davyton is one of the new Lesedi female student’s part of the 2018 intake. “Growing up life was simple, I was raised by my grandmother until she passed away then things got a little hectic.”
Nomfundo is part of the Peermont Community Benefit Trust, Lesedi programme. She heard of the Lesedi programme from her former lecture as she at the time needed to get practical experience to get her qualifications.
“Being part of the Lesedi programme is very nice and also very tricky with a lot of challenges but in a good way!”

Nomfundo gave us some insight on what she does on a daily at Emperors Palace, “We get placed with a different supervisor every day then do breakdowns, and we also do small projects around the complex. We also get to experience different trades and gain more knowledge about them every week.”
Her motivation for being part of Lesedi is, there is a light at the end of the tunnel and the qualification she is going to get will change a lot from her and help her family a great deal.
The Lesedi programme was created to improve the lives of disadvantaged youths of Ekurhuleni, and one of the biggest passions of the trust is to uplift young women and to make them aware that the also are equals to men in any industry they want to be in.

For women’s month, PCBT would like to celebrate these young women doing their best to change their communities and situations at home and empower other young women wanting to go into the trades.
